Dual is a collaboration between Fidel Eljuri and Shipibo-Conibo artist Olinda Silbano.
Inspired by the deep similarities between the kené intuitive fractal patterns and the mathematical analysis known as space-filling curve.
Kené is a traditionally feminine art. Women, unlike men, give their visionary experiences during the Ayahuasca healing ceremonies, painting them as patterns on textiles and objects, these hand painted patterns are also conceived as readable chants of their visions.
The live audiovisual performance propose a digital possibility to these mind states experienced during the ceremonies. The graphics are real time controlled by the chants and sounds.
Dual was created in the Shipibo-Conibo community of Cantagallo, using field recordings, textiles, ícaros, synthesizers, and computer-generated graphics.
